The U.S. Department of Education has announced the opening for funding for the 2010 Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REMS) Grant. 

Grant application proposals are due no later than: February 26, 2010. 

REMS grant recipients have used their grant awards for crisis team and first responder emergency response training, tabletop exercises, crisis plan evaluation assessments, mental health recovery planning and training, and other preparedness activities.

School Safety Advocacy Council offers assistance in the following areas:

  • Critical Incident Plan Development and Review
  • School Safety Assessments and Audits
  • Critical Incident Tabletop Exercises
  • Full Critical Incident Drills
  • School Resource Officer Training/Review
  • Critical Incident Training for First Responders, School Administration, Teachers, Support Staff, Food Service Staff and Transportation Staff
  • Parent and Community Training Programs 

School Safety Advocacy Council (SSAC) does not write application proposals for school districts but we offer numerous services to assist grant applicants.  SSAC will be happy to provide estimated costs for any of our services which can be helpful in providing guidelines for the grant application budget preparation.
